CaviCure
CaviCure is Brunel Coatings’ specialized repair and reinforcement system for marine components exposed to cavitation. Designed to restore surface integrity and prevent further damage, CaviCure is a high-performance coating system engineered to absorb and resist the extreme pressure fluctuations found around propellers, rudders, and propulsion tunnels.
It is chemically bonded, solvent-free, and proven to stop cavitation-related degradation in its tracks.
Solvent-free and safe for enclosed or damp application areas
Non-shrinking with high bond strength to steel and composites
Can be applied in drydock or while trimmed in port
Cures rapidly and returns to service within hours
Eliminates existing cavitation pits and prevents recurrence
Compatible with class reinstatement requirements
Cavitation occurs when rapid pressure changes in water cause it to vaporize and collapse violently. This process is especially aggressive near propulsion systems, where water pressure drops sharply on one side of a spinning propeller and increases sharply on the other.
As vapor bubbles implode near metal surfaces, they unleash shockwaves powerful enough to crater steel and compromise critical components. The damage often begins as pitting but can escalate into severe erosion, weakening rudders, nozzles, and hull plating.
Over time, cavitation can trigger class compliance issues, drydock requirements, or even temporary removal from service.
Understanding Cavitation Damage
Key Benefits
Cavitation Protection for Propellers, Rudders, and High-Impact Zones
Prevention Starts with EnviroMarine
While CaviCure is the best solution for treating cavitation damage, EnviroMarine is your best defense against it ever forming. Its smooth, non-porous surface, combined with high elasticity and zero reactivity, makes it naturally resistant to pressure fluctuation and erosion. No hull coated with EnviroMarine has ever required cavitation repair.
CaviCure: The Proven Remedy
CaviCure was developed to directly address cavitation zones and restore compromised surfaces. It is made from a 100 percent solids formulation and cures through an exothermic reaction, even in difficult marine environments. The cured surface is non-porous, smooth, and extremely hard. At the same time, its elastic properties allow it to absorb dynamic stress and flex without cracking or delaminating.
CaviCure has been successfully applied across multiple vessel classes over the past four years. In every documented case, it has allowed class conditions to be lifted without recurrence of cavitation symptoms. Applications completed in port have allowed vessels to resume sailing within hours.
